Coeo, 1+1>3 and Jurij Konje at the Sharon Temple – July 2012 – Sharon, ON
Coeo, 1+1>3 and Jurij Konje took the stage on July 7th at the Sharon Temple north of Toronto. HERE is a description of the concert on their website.
Coeo is a new percussion quartet. Members are Jurij Konje, Andy Morris, Dean Kurtis-Pomeroy and Ray Dillard. 1+1>3 is a duo made up of Jurij Konje and Ray Dillard. All music performed by both ensembles was composed by members of the ensembles.
Jurij’s solo performances were taken from his three solo CD projects. Taken as a trilogy, Flux, Walkabout, and Ambush introduce a solo artist of staggering imagination coupled with instrumental and compositional virtuosity. Darabe and Garden are two wonderful examples from this amazing three title project.
Each possesses a singular focus and unique identity, showcasing different facets of Jurij’s artistic vision.
Here are files you can Hear of the Concert:
SPAR[ring] – ensemble 1 + 1 > 3
A staged battle with true and manipulated sounds.
A drum composition that employs variation as well as improvisation.
Spectra – ensemble – premiere performance Jurij Konje
This piece is composed in three movements for Coeo. The first embodies the intensity, the second, the integrity and the third, a bold perspective that makes for a colourful listen.
~ INTERMISSION ~
Multiples – ensemble Ray Dillard
A work that takes a fascinating look at some not so obvious numbers which can imply rhythm as a system or set of pulses.
This piece was conceived as the first “song” in a set of twelve. It is cyclical in nature.
This music proves that there is a retreat for both the performer and listener.
